Pearl Jam Drop New Single Wreckage Ahead Of 'Dark Matter' Release

Pearl Jam have shared another early single ahead of the release of their new album.
The strummed heartland-rock sound of Wreckage marks the third preview of 'Dark Matter', due out this Friday (April 19) via Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records. Commenting on the track, guitarist Stone Gossard said:
"That one probably has the biggest build for me personally, in terms of hearing it at first and thinking, it’s kind of an Ed song. I wasn’t quite aware of its potency until later. Andrew [Watt] encouraged me to play this little harmonic, acoustic part almost like a Cure melody. I’ve been playing along with the song to relearn it and I’m really looking forward to playing it live. It’s a really powerful lyric and I think we did a really great job of taking something and really pushing it to its limit."
Producer Andrew Watt added: "[Wreckage] started with the riff and everyone kind of formulating sections together. That song just came to Ed right away. Within the first couple takes before the music was even right, his vocals were right. His melodies and words are so strong in that song. Once the initial spark was there and there were a few sections, it was just really about following him."
The Seattle rock legends previously teased their 12th studio LP with the release of its title track in February and a single called Running in March.
The band will support the follow-up to 2020's 'Gigaton' with the Dark Matter World Tour, which launches with shows in North America in May. They'll head to Europe in the summer for outdoor shows, arena dates and festival slots, including huge concerts at Dublin's Marlay Park, Manchester's Co-Op Live and London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in June.
Later in the summer, they'll return to North America for another round of shows, including a rescheduled date in Indianapolis on August 26, followed by gigs in Australia and New Zealand in November. Tickets are on sale now.
