The first names have been announced for this year's Llais festival.

The event will take place at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff Bay between October 9 and 13, as part of the three-week Cardiff Music City Festival, supported by the Welsh Government and Cardiff Council.

Highlights of the 2024 edition of Llais will include a special Cate Le Bon (pictured) performance, which will see her launch her seventh studio album. There will also be a rare live performance by Joan As Police Woman, who will play songs from her forthcoming new record, supported by Islet.

Rising jazz and ambient experimental vocalist Ganavya is also set to appear, as is Somali singer Sahra Halgan, and a cappella legends Sweet Honey In The Rock, who'll play their only UK show of the year.

Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares will return with Voices And Strings in collaboration with composer Georgi Andreev and Quarto Quartet, and Grammy Award-nominated Irish sean-nós vocalist Iarla Ó Lionáird will team up with pianist and composer Cormac McCarthy.

Additionally, A Celebration of Bay Jazz will take place as part of the Butetown Bay Jazz Heritage Festival, which returns after a 12-year absence to celebrate its 15th anniversary. The Welsh Music Prize will also feature as part of this year's festival.
