She Drew The Gun has shared a new single called Nothing Lasts.

Exploring heartbreak, loss, hope and new beginnings, the track blends psychedelia and post-punk with pop elements. It follows on from the Merseyside artist's May single Howl. Lead singer and songwriter Louisa Roach commented:

"It’s a break up song that started life as a poem I wrote straight into my morning pages, so as close to that part when you first wake up and all your conscious thoughts haven’t properly kicked in yet. It’s about letting things go, endings, the pain of loss but that this too shall pass. It couldn’t be more different to Howl, it's the other side of She Drew The Gun, that doesn’t get seen so often but it's a chapter I’ve been in. I felt like I was channelling Roy Orbison a bit when I was writing it but then we did the demo and it went more pop with synths and strings, and even more so in the studio."

'Howl' is also the title of She Drew The Gun's upcoming fourth album, which will be released via Submarine Cat Records on November 15, following up 2021's 'Behave Myself'. It was recorded alongside producer Ash Workman at his studio in Margate.

Roach said: "The album is born of heartache, rock bottoms, morning pages, love, tears, interspace trips, meditation, surreal meetings with past selves, shadow boxing, healing in the mountains of Serra da Estrela, remembering who I am."

Split into two halves, the first part of the LP explores themes Roach has long taken aim at. She explained: "There’s the side of the album which is the gun, the conscious spoken word, the thoughts and words on living in late capitalism, on war, on historical perspective."

On the more personal second half, she added: "There’s the other side of the album which is the heartbreak that I’ve been through, the love songs. I think it’s the thing of trauma being a coin with two sides; it opens up portals for you. The whole album’s got a bit of a magical side to it: witches, spells, the moon, the lovers, the cards being dealt, rituals, mirrors."

She Drew The Gun will support the record with tour dates in February 2025. Tickets go on sale at 10am tomorrow (July 19). This summer, they'll play Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival, Dorset on July 20, Mugstock in Perth, Scotland on August 3, and Future Now Festival in Birkenhead on August 25.
