Little Dragon's Yukimi Announces Debut Album 'For You', Shares Two New Tracks

Yukimi has announced her debut solo album.
The Little Dragon vocalist and co-founder will release 'For You' on March 28 via Ninja Tune. Featuring 13 tracks, it explores themes of love, loss, feminine energy and innate resilience, while incorporating elements of jazz, soul, electro-pop, hip hop, roots and psychedelia. She explained:
"I want this music to really be a force to connect people to each other, and step away from the madness of everything on the planet right now. And I’m excited about embarking on that journey on my own – the expression really feels pure."
To coincide with the news, Yukimi has shared two singles. Sad Makeup is a stripped back, soulful and intimate offering, while Winter Is Not Dead showcases the Swedish artist's distinct velvety vocals against icy synths and mournful strings. She said:
"I wrote a song called Sad Makeup about those days when you try to push down and control a sad feeling. The more I try to control it, the more it’s felt by others around me, growing bigger as an energy."
"Living in Scandinavia, we must face our long, dark winters," she continued about Winter Is Not Dead. "The lack of light brings many of us down. At the same time, underground, life thrives. Microbes stay busy breaking down organic matter, recycling nutrients and improving the soil, quietly preparing for spring. I also grow during my personal winter seasons, even though things might feel dead on the surface. Wheels turn as I transform and move through it getting ready for spring and summer."
Yukimi previously teased the record with last year's single Break Me Down, which she co-wrote with Little Dragon bandmate Erik Bodin and British artist Lianne La Havas.
Little Dragon, meanwhile, released their seventh album, 'Slugs Of Love', in 2023.
