Savages' drummer Fay Milton has announced her debut album as Goddess.

Curated and produced by Milton, the collaborative, self-titled project will arrive on May 30 via Bella Union, with Milton collaborating with her former bandmate Ayse Hassan following Savages' hiatus.

Comprising 10 tracks that transcend post-punk, electronica, dream-pop and indie-rock, the record features contributions from a cast of female and non-binary vocalists, including Shingai, Delilah Holliday, Salvia, Shadow Stevie, Isabel Muñoz-Newsome, Bess Atwell, Izzy Bee Phillips, Grove, and Harriet Rock. Milton explained:

"With this project, I have come out from behind the drums and stepped into the producer role, allowing the feminine energy to run strong from the start to the finish of the creative process. The idea of 'Goddess' stems from the curiosity of what happens when you bring creative spirits together in interesting new combinations."

To coincide with the news, Goddess has shared the album's piano-led first single, Shadows, which ebbs and flows across Milton's atmospheric production, with haunting vocals from Elena Tonra (Ex:Re / Daughter), Hinako Omori on keys, and Ayse Hassan (Savages) on bass.

"What I love about this track is that it’s got this darkness and lightness at the same time," Milton said. "It’s got this real thunder and lightning energy. There’s a sparkly piano, very light and delicate, and then this noise bass that runs through it. Elena’s vocal is just completely exquisite, as well as her lyrics."

Goddess will perform at Rough Trade East in London on June 3. Head here for details. Tickets are on sale now.
