Myles Smith Returns With First Single Of The Year My First Heartbreak

Myles Smith has returned with his first official single of the year, My First Heartbreak.

Dealing in an introspective and emotion-fuelled sound, the acoustic guitar-led track offers a deeply personal reflection into the BRIT Rising Star Award-winner's childhood. Head below to view the song's powerful accompanying video. Smith explained:

"This song is a reflection on my childhood and the impact of my father leaving. It’s about the pain and confusion I felt as a child, trying to make sense of why he wasn’t there and wrestling with feelings of self-blame. Even though he left, there’s still this undeniable connection - I see parts of him in me, in my features, in who I am. That bittersweet realisation is at the core of the song. As I've grown older, I’ve come to terms with that pain and used it to shape the person I want to be. This song is as much about heartbreak as it is about resilience and hope. It’s about breaking the cycle, learning from what I didn’t have and promising myself that I’ll be the kind of father who never leaves."

The song arrives amid the Luton-born artist's We Were Never Strangers North American Tour, which continues with a performance at The Fillmore in Philadelphia tonight (April 25). He'll head to Australia and New Zealand in May, before returning to the UK for appearances at In It Together Festival in South Wales, BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Liverpool and Glastonbury Festival. He'll also perform at Boardmasters festival in August, following European dates supporting Ed Sheeran. Tickets are on sale now.

Earlier in April, Smith featured on Shaboozey's new single, Blink Twice, the alt-country star's first single since the release of his third album, 'Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going', last spring.

Smith put out his debut EP, 'You Promised a Lifetime', through Sony in March 2024, followed by his 'A Minute' EP in November.
