Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist are back with details of a new collaborative album.
Five years since the release of the Grammy-nominated 'Alfredo', the rapper and producer duo have revealed that they'll drop the sequel, 'Alfredo 2', via Rabbit Vision/ALC Records/Virgin next Friday (July 25) . It will be available with four unique alternate covers, which you can check out below.
To coincide with the announcement, the pair have shared the record's sample-driven opening track, 1995, a follow-up to their 'Alfredo' track 1985, which serves up Gibbs' razor‑sharp bars underpinned by soulful, spacey production.
They've also released a companion short film for the album, Alfredo: The Movie, directed by Nick Walker and filmed on location in Tokyo, which introduces a Yakuza-inspired crime saga that ties into the project.
Gibbs and The Alchemist last teamed up on the 2018 album 'Fetti'. Gibbs, meanwhile, released his most recent solo studio album, 'You Only Die 1nce', last year, while The Alchemist produced this year's 'Life Is Beautiful', a collaborative album by rappers Larry June and 2 Chainz.
The Alchemist will play UK shows in Manchester, London and Bristol over the coming weeks, before linking up with DJ Premier for a UK tour in November. He will also join Erykah Badu for a co-headline North American tour in August. Tickets are on sale now.
