Chrissie Hynde has laid out plans for a new album.
Released as Chrissie Hynde and Pals, 'Duets Special' will arrive through Parlophone on October 17. It features 13 duets with special guests such as Blondie's Debbie Harry, Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode, the late Mark Lanegan, Cat Power, The Killers' Brandon Flowers, and Shirley Manson of Garbage. Check out the full tracklist below.
It's previewed by the first single, a stripped back, piano-led rendition of Always On My Mind featuring Rufus Wainwright. Hynde said:
"I never thought about doing a Duets album before. I think the idea came about in 2023. I was talking to Jörn, Rufus Wainwright’s husband, on the phone. I think we were recommending novels to each other and for some reason I said hey, maybe Rufus and I should do something, and quickly scribbled out 10 songs off the top of my head. So Jörn asked Rufus, who was up for it, and that’s how it started. A spontaneous and what I thought would be a fun thing."
The project marks The Pretenders lead singer and guitarist's fourth studio album under her own name, and follows her band's latest studio LP, 'Relentless', which came out back in 2023.
