Portugal. The Man have announced a new album.
The Portland-based band will release 'SHISH' on November 7 via KNIK, their own imprint under Thirty Tigers, following up their surprise summer EP, 'uLu Selects Vol #2', their first body of work since 2023's 'Chris Black Saved My Life'.
To celebrate the news, the Grammy-winning group have shared a pair of alt-pop songs, the laid-back Tanana, which highlights lead singer-songwriter John Gourley's soaring vocals, and Mush, a more energetic offering. Gourley commented:
"Mush is survival, connection, and ambition. Rural life with moments of danger and absurdity, like dirt bikes, smokers, gunfire, and video games. The repeated line ‘we can be family’ pushes against isolation, reaching for something solid. This is a repeating theme on the record – build a life, support your people, buy land, and grow something lasting. The message is simple: don’t give up, want more, and fight for it. Meanwhile, ‘Tanana’ voices a generational sadness, searching for fleeting meaning in a world on edge."
The announcement comes hot on the heels of the band's recent single Denali, which was released earlier in September and also appears on the tracklist for the new record.
In the summer, Portugal. The Man scheduled the North American leg of their Denali Tour for the fall. Tickets are on sale now. They've also announced the UK and European run for February and March. Tickets for those dates go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (September 26).
