Alex James' Britpop Classical will embark on its first UK tour next spring.
Spearheaded by the Blur bassist and Big Feastival founder, the show reimagines Britpop classics with orchestral arrangements from the London Concert Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, a live band, and guest vocalists.
After debuting at this summer's Big Feastival for 20,000 fans, James will celebrate one of British music's most beloved eras next March at shows in Birmingham, Manchester, Brighton, Nottingham, Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield and London, where he'll perform at the Royal Albert Hall.
He'll then play Southampton's Guildhall Square on June 13 as part of the Summer Sessions series, followed by shows at Live at Lincoln Castle on June 18, Live at Llangollen Pavilion on June 28, Scarborough Open Air Theatre on July 17, Live at The Piece Hall in Halifax on July 19, Dreamland for the Margate Summer Series on July 24, and Latitude Festival on July 26.
Joining James on stage will be an all-star line-up including Quadrophenia star Phil Daniels, Saffron of Republica, and Gary Stringer of Reef, with more guests to be announced in due course. James said:
"These songs mean even more to people now than when they first came out, and they really connect with my kids' generation too. Bringing them to life with a symphony orchestra, a killer band, some old friends, and very special guests blew the roof off at Feastival, and I can’t wait to take this show on the road."
Tickets go on general sale at 12pm on Friday (October 31).
