Nell Mescal has returned with her first single of the year, Kissing The Ground.
Serving up a more cinematic, atmospheric sound, with indie-pop influences drawn from Bon Iver and Lizzy McAlpine, the track ushers in a new chapter for the rising Irish artist, who explained:
"Kissing The Ground is a song about feeling so anxious that you may never come down to earth again. It’s about overthinking and wondering how other people can remain so calm when you feel like you are unravelling. I wrote it as a way of understanding myself a bit more through the overwhelming thoughts that creep in.”
The song has already become a fan favourite, having been performed live during Mescal's recent European tour supporting Sigrid. Next up, she'll appear at MoMo Festival in Rotterdam on Saturday (April 18), followed by a set at Kendal Calling in the Lake District, Cumbria this summer.
Having released her sophomore EP, 'The Closest We'll Get', last October, Mescal is planning to put out more new music over the coming months.
