Sad13, the solo project of Speedy Ortiz's Sadie Dupuis, has announced a new mixtape.
Titled '1331', the collection will arrive through Exploding In Sound Records on July 10 and marks her first Sad13 project since 2020's 'Haunted Paintings'.
Mostly written in spring 2024, it features 13 tracks, all of which are around one minute long, and was made entirely by Dupuis, though recording was delayed after she shattered her elbow in a bike accident, causing nerve damage.
"My body didn’t have the juice,” she explained, "but tracking in little bursts over more time gave me broader influences."
Alongside the news, Dupuis has released three songs from the mixtape, the industrial-leaning Watermelon Manicure, which arrives with a self-directed and edited video, the guitar-driven I Am Now Completely Invisible and the experimental Art Institute.
Dupuis has a handful of Sad13 shows scheduled for July. Head here for details. Tickets are on sale now.
In 2024, she wrote and recorded the theme for comic Jamie Loftus' Sixteenth Minute (of Fame) podcast. Speedy Ortiz put out their latest album, 'Rabbit Rabbit', in 2023.
