The Strokes Hope For a September Album Release

The long awaited and hotly anticipated new album from New York rockers The Strokes has a hopeful release date for this September. Drummer Fab Moretti told the BBC that the group are currently working on the follow up to the excellent 2006 ‘First Impressions of Earth’.

Moretti says the band are enjoying being back in the studio, “We’ve been recording a bunch – basic tracks are done. Now we’re just running around like kids in a candy shop”.

Tackling the process with a “free for all” approach, The Strokes have also begun rehearsing old material for their headlining slots at the Isle of Wight and Rockness festivals this summer. Moretti said “coming back in and writing music was kind of like riding a bicycle”, although the UK appearances are making him nervous, adding “it’s giving me butterflies in my stomach”.
