Danzig are an American heavy metal outfit created and fronted by multi-talented singer-songwriter Glenn Danzig, the man behind iconic horror punk outfit Misfits. Due to Danzig being the musical outlet of its eponymous frontman, the band has cycled members constantly since its birth in 1987.
Currently consisting of Tommy Victor, Johnny Kelly, and Steve Zing alongside Danzig, the band have released a nine studio albums, starting with their self-titled debut in 1988 - which has gone on to sell over 750,000 copies.
Danzig returned with their first LP of original material in seven years in 2017, with 'Black Laden Crown'. We could all see the cover art: a barely-clothed woman with a massive bat nestled in her cleavage. We could all hear Devil On Hwy 9: Glenn Danzig sounding like Abe Simpson as he scraped the bottom of the bikers’ barrel with lyrics such as “Pedal to the metal on a thousand miles”. We all thought ‘Black Laden Crown’ was going to be terrible, didn’t we?
