Jhené Aiko is a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles.
Having signed to a record label (Epic/TUG) when she was just twelve years old, she asked to be released from both companies at the age of sixteen so she could complete high school, escaping the crush of childhood fame in Hollywood.
In September 2017, she released the surprise album 'Trip', a follow up to 2014's 'Souled Out', and the 2013 EP 'Sail Out', named after her twist on how managers used to tell Aiko to "sell herself" at meetings - instead, she would "sail herself", floating on the wind of her heartfelt and meaningful music. Her debut mixtape, 'Sailing Souls' featured collaborations with the likes of Drake, Gucci Mane, and Kanye West.
In 2013, a pivotal year for Aiko, she was featured of Big Sean's Top 40 hit Beware, and teamed up with Drake, appearing on his album 'Nothing Was The Same'.
After the death of her brother in 2012, Aiko tried hard to reach back to him with spiritual, mental and substance-induced journeys, none of which would bring him closer. Through out these travels, Aiko kept a record of her dreams, feelings and experiences in notebooks. These notebooks then turned into a MAP: a Movie (TRIP short film), an Album ('TRIP') and a Poetry book (2fish), which helped her to navigate through the suffering.
After touring across the USA and Europe for the rest of 2017, Jhené Aiko will play a trio of UK shows early next year, calling at London's KOKO, Glasgow's O2 ABC, Birmingham's O2 Institute and the O2 Ritz in Manchester on February 4, 7, 8 and 9. She's recently announced an additional show at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire due to high ticket demand.
