Kendal Calling is an annual music festival held in Lowther Deer Park in the Lake District, Cumbria, featuring some of the best and some of freshest acts in rock, indie, dance, folk, and electro.
Formed in 2006, it has grown from a 900 capacity event to attracting crowds of over 13,000 and was voted Best Small Festival in 2010 and 2011. The festival offers a variety of entertainment, ranging from games and activities to good food, drink and alternative performances too.
With nine different stages, the festival has had a number of big name artists and DJs come and perform over the years, including Pendulum, Blondie, Mumford and Sons, Calvin Harris, Snoop Dogg, Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, The Vaccines, James, Suede, Frank Turner, De La Soul, Happy Mondays, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Rudimental, Madness and the Charlatans.
In 2017, Kendal Calling saw performances from Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers, Brian Wilson presents ’Pet Sounds’, Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls, Tinie Tempah and Franz Ferdinand.
Kendal Calling returned for another year in 2018, being held at Penrith Castle in July with headliners Catfish & The Bottlemen, Run DMC, The Libertines and Hacienda Classical!
Previous acts have included the likes of James, Shed Seven, Ocean Colour Scene, the Sherlocks, White Lies, the Wailers, Declan Mckenna, Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Lucy Spraggan, the Amazons, Tom Grennan, Slow Readers Club, Peter Hook and the Light, Marmozets, Pale Waves, Idles plus many more.
The Kendal Calling organisers have announced a New Year's Eve celebration with Everything Everything and Tom Grennan leading the line up and Felix Hagan and the Family, Tim Peaks DJs and Howling Rhythm DJs also playing.
