Mr Scruff, real name Andrew Carthy is a DJ and electronic music producer, from Cheshire.
Starting out in 1994, in and around Manchester, before progressing to clubs nationwide, he is famed for his hip-hop sound and epic sets that occasionally last up to six hours. He's released countless albums and singles in his career, including seven studio albums, five compilation and mix albums, over thirty one singles, and twelve collaborations.
Mr Scruff took his name after being inspired by his scruffy facial hair and his trademark loose-lined drawing style that often features in the visuals and animations associated with his music. Additionally, he is also known as 'The DJ with the Teashop', as Mr Scruff often sells tea at his shows - which once grew into a full tea business named Make Us a Brew, which often had stalls erected at festivals and even its own website, but was dissolved in 2013.
Mr Scruff is set to play UK dates in October and November, continuing throughout December and January after a brief spell in Australia. Catch him live by checking out the tour dates and ticket information below on Stereoboard.
Since the ‘90s, DJ and producer Mr. Scruff has gone from left field beat-matcher to a bonafide fixture in British festival culture, deriving his own brand of sample-led electronica from a deep appreciation of soul and funk.
