Okkervil River are an American indie rock band from Austin, Texas consisting of frontman Will Sheff, alongside Will Graefe, Cully Symington, Benjamin Lazar Davis and Sarah Pedinotti.
Formed in 1998, the band released their debut album, Stars Too Small to Use, in 2002, which led to them signing with Jagjaguwar. ‘Down the River of Golden Dreams’ followed in 2003 but it was their third album, ‘Black Sheep Boy’ that gained them the most critical acclaim. After a string of more albums, the band’s latest release was 'Away', which came in September 2017. They are set to release yet another album, 'In The Rainbow Rain', on April 27 through ATO Records.

Okkervil River’s Will Sheff has long been known for his bleak outlook on life. The places his songs frequented seemed dark and dangerous, while rock music was going to be the death of him. That came to a climax with 2016’s ‘Away’.
