Tower of Power is an American R&B band based in Oakland, California, featuring Emilio Castillo, Stephen 'Doc' Kupka, Francis 'Rocco' Prestia, David Garibaldi, Roger Smith, Sal Cracchiolo, Adolfo Acosta, Marcus Scott, Tom Politzer and Jerry Cortez.
Formed in 1968, the band released their debut album, ‘East Bay Grease’, in 1970 and led to them signing to Warner Bros. for their second release, ‘Bump City’, in 1972, a self-titled release in 1973, ‘Back to Oakland’, in 1974, ‘Urban Renewal’, in 1975 and, ‘In the Slot’, the same year. The band have released various albums since then, their latest being ‘The Great American Soulbook’, in 2009. They are best known for tracks such as You're Still a Young Man, So Very Hard to Go and Don't Change Horses (in the Middle of a Stream).
