Ashanti is a singer-songwriter and actress from Glen Cove, New York.

She released her Grammy-winning self-titled debut album in 2002, having already gained large amounts of attention after featuring on tracks such as Fat Joe's What's Luv? and Ja Rule's Always on Time. She became the first female artist to hold the top two positions on the Billboard Hot 100 chart simultaneously, with her single Foolish at #1 and What's Luv? at #2.

She has since put out a further five studio albums, with her most recent being 2014's 'Braveheart'.

She has also had a successful acting career, starring in films such as John Tucker Must Die, The Muppets' Wizard of Oz and Coach Carter.
