Barrence Whitfield is an American soul and R&B singer hailing from Jacksonville, Florida. Born in 1955 (his birth name is Barry White - he unsurprisingly changed it when he hit the big time), he is perhaps best known as the frontman of his band Barrence Whitfield & the Savages.
Active from as far back as the 1970’s, he came to prominence in the following decades and has released a lengthy back-catalogue of LPs and singles, which are still hitting shelves to this day. In May 2014, he toured the UK with the Savages once again, and returned for a second time in the year in November.
