Big Country are a Scottish rock band from Fife, consisting of Bruce Watson, Mark Brzezicki, Jamie Watson and Simon Hough, best known for hits such as hits such as Fields of Fire and In A Big Country.
Formed in 1981, the band released their debut album, ’The Crossing’ in 1983, which hit #3 in the UK Albums Chart. The band’s second album, ’Steeltown’, performed even better, reached the top spot in the chart. ‘The Seer’, released in 1986, and ‘Peace in Our Time’, in 1988, both appeared in the Top Ten. The band went to release several more albums, with their ninth release, ‘The Journey’, coming out in 2013.
Enduring tragedy in 2001 with the loss of lead singer Stuart Adamson, the three remaining band members Mark Brzezicki, Tony Butler and Bruce Watson reunited for a UK tour in 2007 and released the album ’Twenty Five Live’. Big Country have since added vocalist Simon Hough and guitarist Jamie Watson to the lineup and embarked on an extensive UK tour in late 2014 and a Best Of tour in 2015. The band headlined the 80s Invasion Tour in March 2016.
