Buzzcocks are a punk and new wave band from Bolton, consisting of Steve Diggle, Danny Farrant and Chris Remington.
Formed in 1976 by singer Howard Devoto and guitarist Pete Shelley, Buzzcocks are one of the most recognised and influential bands in punk. They are best known for songs such as Harmony in My Head, Ever Fallen in Love, Everybody's Happy Nowadays and What Do I Get?. The band released their debut EP, ‘Spiral Scratch’ in 1976 on their own record label, New Hormones, making them the second ever punk band to establish an independent label. They released three studio albums before disbanding in 1981, so that Shelley could pursue a solo career, but reunited for the first time in 1989, with several line up shuffles before becoming the Buzzcocks that we know today. Their most recent album, 'The Way', was released in 2014, adding to their collection of nine full-length records. Sadly, Pete Shelley died of a suspected heart attack in 2018, leaving the remaining members of the band determined to continue his legacy. Buzzcocks have been announced as a headline act during The Piece Hall Halifax's festive concert series in December 2021. Following this, they'll head out on a huge UK tour in March 2022.
