Ex-Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has announced his return to the recording studio, revealing that he is to begin work on new material with a friend “this week".
You can’t really blame Noel Gallagher for wanting a break from music. Forming half of the infamous sibling rivalry of Oasis, Noel decided to leave the band once and for all last year in Paris after one last row with gobby brother Liam resulted in the band’s final demise.
A long silence has followed from Noel since the split. Playing two shows at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall earlier this year, the two performances in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust have been the only live appearances from the songwriter since that fateful night in France.
Having taken his time to write material for a new solo album, Noel Gallagher recently announced that he plans to step into the recording studio “this week”. Not for his own work however, instead the guitarist will be playing drums for a mystery friend. Remaining tight-lipped in the identity of his friend, Noel Gallagher added that the public would know who the collaborator is and revealed that it is someone he has “thrown up” with in the past.
Having previously played drums with Proud Mary, not many people know that Noel Gallagher is more than capable when it comes to hitting out a beat. The guitarist wrote a lot of the drumming for Oasis’ early material before handing things over to original drummer Tony McCarroll.
