Kings Of Leon Set To Play This Year’s EMA’s

Friday, 08 October 2010 Written by James Conlon

Kings of Leon will perform live at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards, it has been announced today. Joining the band will be a host of acts from the world of music, including Ke$ha, Katy Perry, Linkin Park and Kid Rock.

The 17th annual EMAs will take place in Madrid on November 7. The event will be hosted by actress Eva Longoria (of ‘Desperate Housewives’ fame).

The main contenders for the awards are Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, who each have four nominations, as well as Eminem who received three.

Kings of Leon have been nominated in the ‘Best Live Act’ and ‘Best Rock’ categories, squaring up against the likes of Linkin Park, Muse, Bon Jovi and 30 Seconds to Mars.

If past performances are to be trusted, the band should have no problem securing at least one EMA: In January this year they took home three Grammy awards, including ‘Best Rock Song’ and ‘Record of the year’.

The band are due to release their fifth studio album, ‘Come Around Sundown’ on October 18th. The lead single, ‘Radioactive’ was debuted for radio play on 8th September and released for download and physical release earlier this week.
