Arcade Fire, Jay-Z And Lady Gaga Take Home Grammy Awards

Jay-Z, Arcade Fire and Lady Gaga all won big at last night’s Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Canadian rockers Arcade Fire won the night’s biggest award, earning ‘Best Album’ for their chart-topping release ‘The Suburbs’.

Lady Gaga maintained her usual controversial style by arriving at the ceremony inside an egg, carried by a team of barely-dressed men. The singer won three awards including the coveted ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ for her smash release ‘The Fame Monster’.

Jay-Z took home three awards, winning in the ‘Rap Performance By A Duo or Group’,‘Rap/Sung Collaboration’ and ‘Rap Song’ categories, the last of which he won with ‘Empire State of Mind’ featuring Alicia Keys.

The main surprise of the night undoubtedly came in the form of country trio Lady Antebellum, who won five awards including ‘Record Of The Year’ and ‘Song Of The Year’. The band beat off competition from the likes of Eminem, Lady Gaga and Cee Lo Green to become the surprise victors of the evening.

There were two winners from this side of the Atlantic: Muse won ‘Best Rock Album’ for their 2010 effort ‘The Resistance’, while La Roux was awarded ‘Best Electronic Dance Album’ for her 2010 eponymous release.
