T In The Park To Combat Presence of 'Neds'

T in the Park boss Geoff Ellis has declared that this year’s festival should be ‘Ned-free’.

The three day music festival, held in Scotland every year, has had problems in the past with louts and delinquents in attendance, but this year the organisers have made it clear that ‘Neds’ are NOT welcome.

A ‘ned’ is a derogatory Scottish term for any misbehaving crooks or aberrant, meaning ‘non-educated’- strikingly similar to a ‘chav’ in my opinion. But how does Ellis plan to free his festival of the fools this year?

First of all, they could follow the footsteps of fellow Scottish festival Rockness, which implanted dress code banning ‘Ned attire’ – tracksuits and the likes – to all of its attendees this year.

"I think it's probably tongue-in-cheek. What is Ned attire? Do you say to Jay-Z he's a Ned because he wears sportswear? It's not about what you wear; it's about who you are. Listen, you can be a Ned in a suit. If you take a Ned to mean somebody who is out to cause trouble, those are people we don't want to come to T in the Park anyway. We've no plans to put a dress code into T in the Park, which would be quite draconian. But Neds are not welcome, just to clarify that." said Ellis.

In similar news, the T in the Park line-up was recently announced, revealing the Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and the Foo Fighters as the festival’s headliners.
