Bassist Dave Pajo Quits Interpol

Brooding rock band Interpol have lost their second bassist in ten months as Dave Pajo announced today that he has quit the band.

In an official statement on the band’s website, interpolnyc.com, Interpol announced that Pajo would no longer be touring or recording as part of the outfit. Pajo contributed to the statement, saying that he is leaving to spend more time with his family.

It read: “New personnel change: Dave Pajo is tagging out, folks.
Dave has decided to step out of the spotlight for a spell, and will no longer be touring with Interpol. We’re all friends. It’s just an Out-of-the-hotel, Into-the-home sorta thing. He’s going to be missed to be sure. Aside from being an exceptional musician, Pajo is a wonderful person to be around. He’s sharp as a tack and funny as all get-out.

Anyway, if you saw us perform recently, I’m sure you’ll agree - we were lucky to have him.”

However, the statement continued to announce that he would be replaced with immediate effect by Brad Truax, who has previously performed with both Home and Jah Division.

The band said:“We have tapped our friend Brad Truax to perform bass duties effective immediately.

Brad is the man. His musical resume includes work with a horde of awesome bands: Home, Soldiers of Fortune, Gang Gang Dance,The Broke Revue, Animal Collective, Cass McCombs, White Magic. He’s got taste and he’s got chops. And that’s what we want.”

Truax’s first performance with the band will be in Hamburg on March 3rd. He will also perform as bassist when the band embark on their UK tour later this month.

Interpol will play the following tour dates:

March 2011

18/03 Bournemouth O2 Academy
19/03 Bristol Colston Hall
20/03 Cambridge Corn Exchange
22/03 Leeds O2 Academy
23/03 O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, London
