Green Day - Cigarettes & Valentines (Single Review)

Premiering in a live capacity on Green Day’s 21st Century Breakdown World Tour and said to be a song on the unreleased album of the same name from the band’s history, the track ‘Cigarettes and Valentines’ is finally getting an official release on their upcoming release ‘Awesome as Fuck’.
Kicking off the track, live, Billie Joe declares, “This song’s called ‘Cigarettes and Valentines’. Let’s go!” With Tré’s four beat count in, the Californian trio and co launch into a live performance of the song. It just sounds like a typical, great Green Day song. The band have honed their sound over their lengthy career span to the point a track just sounds ‘theirs’.
The main positive of the track being projected live is that it highlights the quality and ease of transferring Green Day tracks between album and stage. You can just sense the band's energy and enthusiasm as you listen – something you’ll be more than aware of if you ever have or ever do get to see the band live.
With countless releases under their belt and a fanbase most would envy, the band have delivered another superior track to please the mass of Green Day fans avidly awaiting more from them and, quite frankly, keep producing enough quality to extend their increasingly massive live sets with seemingly everything they create.
