AC/DC - Live At River Plate (DVD Review)

Roll out the cannons, ring out hells bells and let there be rock as AC/DC release their new long-awaited live concert DVD 'AC/DC Live At River Plate'.

Think back a few years and you might recall the thundering sound of AC/DC's Rock N Roll Train ripping through a nearby city. The band's massive 2008 Black Ice World Tour has since become one of the biggest live jaunts of all time and this new DVD captures all the action from Buenos Aires' River Plate Stadium where the band entertained 200,000 fans on one of the many stops of their record-breaking 18-month tour.

Cranking up the volts to '11', AC/DC mark their 13 year absence from Argentina with a ground-shaking performance. The DVD delivers everything a fan would want, with all the classic tracks such as 'Back In Black', 'Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)', 'Thunderstruck', 'Hells Bells', 'Whole Lotta Rose', 'You Shook Me All Night Long', 'Highway To Hell' and the epic 'For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)' included. The banshee howls and growls of singer Brian Johnson are ear-piercingly clear as are the sounds created by the school uniform-clad Angus Young and his trusty Gibson SG. This DVD will truly have you air-guitaring for the entire show!

All aboard the Rock N Roll train....

Kicking off with 'Rock N Roll Train', the lead single from the 'Black Ice' album, the 32 HD cameras that shot the gig capture the atmosphere perfectly. Straight out of the blocks both Johnson and Young seem ageless as they whip up the crowd into an an uncontrollable frenzy. Powering into the first of their classics 'Hell Aint A Bad Place To Be', the performance sees Angus letting rip on his Gibson SG, trademark duck-walking in full flow as he and Johnson strut down the huge catwalk into the crowd.

Fan favourite 'Back In Black' is the first of the major crowd-pleasers to be unleashed, all captured by some truly stunning cinematography as cameras fly high above the show, following both Johnson and Young around the huge stage. That doesnt mean you dont get up close and personal to the show however. Throughout the 110 minutes of high-voltage rock n roll, songs like 'Big Jack', 'Shot Down In Flames' 'Black Ice' and 'Shoot To Thrill' give you the chance to see all five members of AC/DC do their stuff up close and personal. Even the less animated rhythm makers such as guitarist Malcolm Young and bassist Cliff Williams get their fair share of the spotlight, with drummer Phil Rudd often popping up to bash out a few beats into your face.

All of the usual live AC/DC fun and games are documented too. Everything from Johnson's bell-ringing to Angus' striptease to the giant inflatable Rosie (who Im sure is getting bigger with each tour!) is here, right up to the signature 'For Those About To Rock' sign-off, complete with blazing cannons of course!

The Black Ice Word Tour took AC/DC on a 20 month trek across the planet and saw the band play to over 5 million fans in 108 cities in over 28 countries. This new live DVD will have you thinking that you're actually at the show, providing you turn the volume up, LOUD, sorry neighbours! 'AC/DC Live at River Plate' also features an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the tour and is totally worth a watch to see the huge amount of work that went into delivering the tour.
