Blink-182 Surprised At Positive Reaction To 'Up All Night'

Blink-182 have expressed their surprise at the reaction to their recently-unveiled comeback single ‘Up All Night’. The track is the first to be taken from ‘Neighbourhoods’, their first studio LP since reforming as an act.

The song was unveiled by the band on Friday (July 15th), receiving mixed reviews from their online fanbase. Speaking to MTV about the track, Mark Hoppus claimed that the final version is much darker than the track’s original incarnation.

He said: "'Up All Night' was the first song that we started writing when the band got back together. The foundation of the song remains largely the same as when we first began, but over the past two years, as we've been recording other songs, coming back to this one, working on something else, coming back to this song, it's gotten harder and heavier than its original incarnation."

Hoppus went on to claim that original versions of the track had a "lofty, synth-y chorus", which the band chose to rework so that the song could become “more of a rocker".

Speaking about initial reactions to the song, Hoppus said: "I'm so glad to finally have new music out, and cannot believe how well it has been received. [Our website] crashed out several times, my Google Plus account crashed out twice, and Blink-182 was a top trending topic worldwide. Totally amazing. Now, I can't wait for the album itself to be released."
