Mike Skinner Writes Ten New Tracks For ‘The Inbetweeners’

Thursday, 04 August 2011 Written by James Conlon

Mike Skinner has written and recorded ten original songs for the upcoming feature film for hit UK comedy ‘The Inbetweeners’. The musician, who is set to retire his alias The Streets after the touring cycle for his latest LP ‘Computer and Blues’, will also be joined by the likes of Miles Kane, The Vines, Ke$ha and Calvin Harris on the soundtrack to the puerile comedy.

Meanwhile, Skinner recently spoke to The List about his decision to retire his Streets moniker. During the interview, Skinner claimed he had “run out of new avenues” as a recording artist, saying: "I've been doing it for 10 years and I've always tried to do something different with each album. Some of my work has been amazingly received and some of it hasn't been, and I've run out of new avenues."

He continued, going on to claim that touring is one aspect that he will especially miss when The Streets name is finally rested. Skinner said: "I do really enjoy performing. Everyone's got their job and it's really nice to have a purpose. It's much better than any holiday. It's like a holiday with a purpose. It's a working holiday.”

"But whenever you have a day off on tour, it just goes really wrong. Because there's nothing to do; it's like 15 people with nothing to do. It just goes wrong. There are repercussions from that."

The tracklisting for ‘The Inbetweeners Movie’ will be:

1. Miles Kane - 'Quicksand'
2. Mike Skinner - 'No Problemo'
