The Killers Planning “More Guitars” On Next LP

The Killers’ next studio album will have a more guitar-centred sound, according to a recent interview with Ronnie Vannucci. The drummer hinted at a new direction for the band during an interview with NME, stating that he personally feels the shift back to guitar rock is long overdue.

Speaking to the magazine, Vannucci said: "The next album is going to have more guitars. It’s about fucking time!" The drummer went on to confirm that the band have been writing the album for the past few months and are set to begin recording next month in Nashville.

Speaking about who will be behind the production helm, Vannucci said: "It’s up in the air who's going to produce it, I can’t officially say. We have some people in mind, but I don’t want to piss people off and say who it is. All last month we’ve been writing some great Killers songs, it’s really happening. I’m really looking forward to doing this next record it’s going to sound fucking great."

Vannucci also discussed his current side-project Big Talk, who are set to embark on a small UK tour later this month. When asked about the recent success of the project, Vannucci said: "Maybe [it's successful] because it's rock and roll. When you hear records by some of these guys it seems like they are more worried about their hair than the tunes and having a good time. It’s an honest record, it’s pure. It feels like I’m not trying to say anything big and it's the right time for a record like that."
