Manchester quartet The Rainband have been announced as one of the opening acts on Ocean Colour Scene’s December tour. The group will be providing support on seven of the shows, when the Birmingham quintet will be celebrating the 15th anniversary of their album ‘Moseley Shoals’ – see below for dates and tickets.
On 21st November, The Rainband are due to release their second single ‘The Prodigal’, the follow-up to their debut ‘She’s A Rainbow’. The new track features the vocal talents of Rowetta, who is probably known best for her contributions to the Happy Mondays, such as on their 1990 hit ‘Step On’. Watch the video for ‘She’s A Rainbow’ below.
Speaking about The Rainband, frontman Martin Finnigan said: “We’ve been called the real sound of the city and suffice to say this has been a major year for us. We want to fulfil our promise and be the next great band to come out of Manchester. Just come to our shows and see for yourself.”
In addition to the upcoming dates with Ocean Colour Scene, The Rainband have recently performed with the likes of Simple Minds and The Charlatans. They will also be playing their own headlining date at Manchester’s HMV Ritz on Sunday 18th December with Rowetta.

December 6th – Barrowlands, Glasgow
