Big Country Announce 30th Anniversary Tour Dates & Tickets

Scottish rockers Big Country are to celebrate their 30th anniversary by performing their classic debut album ‘The Crossing’ in full on their forthcoming tour in February 2012 – see below for dates and tickets. A Deluxe Edition of the album is due for release ahead of the tour on 30th January and is expected to include a number of previously-unreleased tracks and footage of the band.
‘The Crossing’ was released in 1983, when it reached Number 3 in the UK Albums Chart and has since been certified Gold in both the UK and the US. The album features the Top 10 singles ‘Fields of Fire’ and ‘Chance’ and has sold over two-million copies in the UK.
Speaking about the upcoming Crossing the Country Tour, Big Country bass player and founding member Tony Butler said: “It’s typical to write an album and only play a few songs from it, so to get the opportunity to play an entire album is very cool. This tour will give us the chance to play songs never performed before alongside the well-known ones, songs that were written but didn't make it on to the album and the associated 'b-side' material. We can't wait.”
The Alarm’s Mike Peters recently joined Big Country as the band’s lead vocalist, taking the place of the late Stuart Adamson, who passed away in 2001. Earlier this year, Big Country released ‘Another Country’, their first single in 12 years. A new album is expected to be released sometime next year.
