Boy George to Adele: 'Give Up Smoking!'

Culture Club’s eccentric frontman Boy George has sent a message of advice to soul singer Adele – give up the fags or your already-damaged throat will be at risk!
Adele has had a torrid time in recent months, with a haemorrhage in her vocal chords causing her to cancel her whole US tour, including a handful of UK dates. The injury to her throat has also required her to receive micro-laser surgery to heal a benign polyp, with Adele having to confirm to fans that she was not suffering from cancer.
So, from one singer to another, Boy George has sent 23 year-old Adele some advice – give up smoking!
“If you're a singer and you smoke it really isn't a great idea. I gave up smoking six months ago which was the best thing I ever did. I used to try to convince myself it made me sound jazzier. It was very difficult to give up but I'm so glad I did.”
While George is more than double Adele’s age, and only gave up six months ago, it is sound advice to the ‘Someone Like You’ singer. And if Adele needs any evidence that giving up is positive for a singer’s career, Boy George is a prime example – it’s recently been announced that Culture Club are reuniting and will be playing a reunion gig in Australia on New Year’s Eve.
