Little Mix's 'Cannonball' Lowest Selling X-Factor Winner's Single Since 2004

According to Guardian reports, Little Mix’s cover of Damien Rice’s ‘Cannonball’ has become the lowest-selling X-Factor winner’s single since 2004’s Steve Brookstein single ‘Against All Odds’, a Phil Collins cover.
Despite ‘Cannonball’ hitting the top of the charts, it turns out that in actual fact, sales of the track have dwindled and are far lower than that of 2005 winner Shane Ward and last year’s Matt Cardle.
Officially, Little Mix have sold about 210,000 copies, whereas Cardle’s track sold more than double that with 439,007. Ward’s sales, however, dwarf these with an incredible 742,180 units shifted. Brookstein managed a pitiful 127,701.
It appears that the X-Factor may be losing its extraordinary influence on the music scene, with this year’s finale seeing 4million less viewers tune in than the previous year. Also, there has been almost no attempt by Cowell and X-Factor to get ‘Cannonball’ to the Christmas top-spot – combine this with dwindling winner’s single sales and viewers, and the future doesn’t look so bright for the show.
