Alternative hip-hop collective OFWGKTA, a.k.a Odd Future, have revealed that they’ll be putting out their second mixtape (and their fourth LP) ‘The Odd Future Tape Volume 2’ on March 20th.
The group, who’ve seen an explosion in popularity in recent times thanks to one of their rappers Tyler, The Creator, will put out the mixtape through a major label for the first time, with the release coming through Sony’s RED Distribution via their own Odd Future record label. The mixtape will mark the first in a whole number of Odd Future releases expected to hit shelves this year.
Tyler, The Creator is expected to release his second solo album ‘Wolf’, which is the follow up to his hugely successful ‘Goblins’, which featured his track ‘Yonkers’. Meanwhile, members Frank Ocean, Hodgy Beats and Leftbrain are all set to release material separately, while the whole group will premier their brand new TV show ‘Loiter Patrol’ on Adult Swim in March.
Tyler once again found himself in trouble with the authorities recently, adding to the huge amount of controversy surrounding the rapper. He was charged with vandalism after trashing sound equipment at Odd Future’s Christmas show in LA – a move which he said was ‘to inform security’ after he saw two female fans were injured in the crowd.
