The Rolling Stones To Delay 50th Anniversary World Tour Until 2013

According to reports, British Rock veterans The Rolling Stones will delay their 50th anniversary celebrations until 2013.

The iconic rockers, who kicked-off a legendary career with a London gig way back in July 1962, were rumoured to announced a 50th anniversary world tour this year celebrating the milestone in their hugely successful career.

However, despite promising comments from band guitarist Ronnie Wood earlier this year, who revealed that he and his fellow Stones were on the verge of a new worldwide tour, the suggested shows have been delayed until 2013.

When asked about the 50th anniversary jaunt, Stones guitarist and songwriter Keith Richards commented: “Basically, we're just not ready. I have a feeling that's [2013] more realistic.”

Keith's health issues could perhaps be the main reason behind the postponement, with doubts over whether the guitarist could currently commit to a full-scale world tour, however, Keith Richards offered his own reason: "The Stones always considered '63 to be 50 years, because Charlie [Watts, drummer] didn't actually join until January," he said. "We look upon 2012 as sort of the year of conception, but the birth is next year."

Keith also confirmed that The Rolling Stones are about the return to the recording studio together. In addition, 2013's celebratory world tour could see former bassist Bill Wyman rejoin the band, with Keith claiming that Bill was “up for it” having discussed it with his former bandmates.
