One Direction's Debut US Single Goes Platinum

World-beating boyband One Direction have had their complete domination of the US confirmed today – after it was revealed that their debut single 'What Makes You Beautiful' has sold over 1,100,000 copies since it came out in February, giving it a platinum certification.

The incredible figure (officially recorded as 1,129,852) highlights how much of an impact the band have made over in the states following their tour alongside Big Time Rush, who many consider to have been overshadowed by the X-Factor group, and the release of their debut album and singles.
