The Stone Roses Make Live Return At Free Warrington Gig

Manchester rock legends The Stone Roses made a triumphant return yesterday, playing a free gig in Warrington, their first performance for 16 years.

The shows come ahead of their hugely-anticipated reunion tour, and saw them perform in front of over 1,000 people – all of which got in free by bringing with them a record sleeve, t-shirt, or a ticket to one of the band's forthcoming comeback shows.

The group opened sentimentally with 'I Wanna be Adored', the opening track from their self-titled 1989 debut album, before playing classics such as 'Mersey Paradise', 'Made of Stone' and 'Shoot You Down'. A full setlist can be seen below.

The band wowed their crowd, which included ex-Oasis star Liam Gallagher, and reportedly performed really well – with NME describing them as sounding 'light years from how they sounded in 96'. A delighted journalist and Stone Roses enthusiast John Robb tweeted after the show: “Band at front of stage arms aloft we'll be back says Ian.”

If you're a fan of the band, make sure you catch them at one of their up and coming UK reunion shows.
