Deftones Could Release New Album By October

Alternative metal outfit Deftones may release their forthcoming new album before the end of the year - with October looking like the target release date.

A recent interview with frontman Chino Moreno seems to indicate that a new album, which they’ve been working on since they shelved ‘Eros’ - the last record they began working on with comatose bassist player Chi Cheng - could be out at the end of the summer.

“With our last record we did it in a really short, good amount of time, probably four or five months from the time we started writing until we finished it,” Moreno told Billboard. “For us, that was record time, so this time the idea was, ‘Let’s go in and start a record on this date and let’s try to be finished by summertime and keep this work ethic we kind of stumbled upon on the last one,’ and we did.”

The comments follow a statement from the band in April, which saw Moreno saying: “I'm so excited about [the album] because Deftones, obviously, that's my life, I've made a career since I was fifteen years old and right before I came last week we finished all the writing so, next week, when I get back, we start recording. We should have a record that comes out in the early Fall, maybe October. Maybe September.”
