Primal Scream Replace Bassist Mani With Unknown Musician Simone Butler

Scottish rockers Primal Scream have announced that they’ve replaced their bassist Mani - who left the band last year to rejoin The Stone Roses - with relatively unknown bass player Simone Butler.

The band have been on the hunt for a permanent Mani replacement since his departure at the start of the year, and had temporarily been joined by My Bloody Valentine’s Debbie Googe, though she was simply a touring bassist and would not leaving her role in the Irish rock outfit.

Now, they’ve managed to find one, and have recruited a previously unknown musician to their award-winning ranks - though they seem to have recorded their brand new album (due out 2013) without him.

Speaking of their new record, Bobby Gillespie said: “It’s a rock’n’roll record, but modern rock’n’roll. Pretty psychedelic rock, it’s kind of guitar-driven but we use guitars in an orchestral way, not in the normal way people make rock records. I think we do it in a more interesting way. We weave the guitars in with electronics and other acoustic instruments to make the core sound.”

It seems no-one knows anything about Simone Butler as of yet - but if you have any information on the bassist, leave us a comment in the section below!
