It’s been an incredible year for New York trio fun. Following a recent short run of live dates, the group have confirmed a return to the UK in April 2013. Fun. Tickets are ON SALE 9AM TODAY, Friday 19th October.
Regarded as one of this year’s hottest band’s Fun. release their new single ‘Carry On’ – the third to be taken from their UK Gold-certified album Some Nights – on November 19th.
This year’s been a phenomenal one for the New York natives. Fun., made up of Nate Ruess (vocals), Andrew Dost (keys) and Jack Antonoff (guitar), have just completed a sold out UK tour and they’ve been selling-out shows worldwide for most the year! The band’s huge breakthrough single ‘We Are Young’ became the anthem of summer 2012, after it reached Number 1 in the UK Official Singles Chart. The official video has received over a staggering 140million views and the track has now sold over 8.5 million copies worldwide! The band’s latest album 'Some Nights' has now surpassed 1 million sales worldwide.
Fun. have landed themselves an array of big TV appearances over the past year, with performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, David Letterman, Graham Norton, Jonathan Ross and many more. They also racked up a couple of nominations at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards in the ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Pop Video’ categories. Additionally, the band will be performing at the MTV European Music Awards in Frankfurt on November 11th where they’re nominated for ‘Best Song’, ‘Best New’ and ‘Best Push’.
They have also announced details of a UK and Ireland tour, which will take place in April 2013. The run of dates will kick off at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on April 14th, following with shows in Edinburgh, Leeds, London (Hammersmith Apollo), Bristol and Norwich, before finishing up at Nottingham’s Rock City on April 22nd.
