“The Origin of Love” is the third studio album released by British singer-songwriter Mika, which since its release in October has been Top 10 in fifteen countries across Europe, selling over 500,000 copies to date and reaching Number 1 in France. With Mika’s career album sales to nine million and achieving his first hit album in the iTunes Top Ten on its week of release and taking the number one spot on the US iTunes Pop Chart - Mika seems unstoppable.
Self-created and self-imagined, “The Origin of Love” has been a two-year labour of love personally assembled by Mika with an incredible line of collaborators behind him. In addition to Nick Littlemore and Pharrell Williams, Mike has worked with Benny Benassi, FrYars, Greg Wells, Klas Ahlund alongside a handful of unsigned musicians he scouted out online.
“The Origin of Love” has been successful both sides of the Atlantic, with The Guardian referring to Mika as, “one of the UK’s most underrated songwriters” and Q Magazine describing the album as “persuasive, likeable, grown-up pop”.
2012 has seen Mika play a live set at the London 2012 Olympic Games in London and make an appearance on BBC Newsnight discussing the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, and Mika is currently performing a sell-out European tour set to return to the UK to play shows in December.
The new single release is set to be popular among fans and will set Mika up for a busy 2013.
