Currently heard on the popular John Lewis Christmas TV Advert with her reworking of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s ‘The Power of Love’, Gabrielle Aplin is to embark on a headline UK tour in March 2013.
Asked by John Lewis to record ‘The Power of Love’, Gabrielle was initially hesitant that she could bring her own alchemy to a track that was already quite perfect - but she’s put an incredible twist on the track, which you can check out below.
“The lyrics are so strong and powerful but the song is so intricate and beautiful, I was fascinated with the juxtaposition of it,” Aplin commented. “What I really wanted to do was strip the production away but keep the energy of the song. And I wanted it to be minimal and wintry.”
Gabrielle has just concluded her Autumn 2012 UK tour that included a show at London's Scala. Gabrielle will return to UK stages in Spring next year for a 9-date UK tour, which also includes a show at London's KOKO.
