Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock Claims LCD Soundsystem Man James Murphy Owes Him $150 - For A Broken Fridge

Wednesday, 15 May 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

The Beastie Boys’ Ad-Rock may ‘stir-fry you in his wok’ (true fans will get that one!), but there’s not much he can do with his fridge at the moment - as apparently, LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy broke it, and didn’t even front the cash for its repair!

The hip-hop star was fifteen minutes into an interview with Vulture, talking about their memoir for their late bandmate MCA (Adam Yauch), and - rather weirdly - Sting’s penchant for tantric sex, when Murphy walked past.

Seeing the singer, Ad-Rock stopped the conversation and told the interviewer:

“There's James Murphy. He owes me $150. Well, he stayed at my apartment a long time ago and broke the refrigerator and didn't get it fixed. I had to fix it.”

When asked how he broke the fridge (a vital question), he replied:

“I don't know! It was just broken. He stayed at my place, and I moved back in and the refrigerator didn't work. I was like, 'Dude, what's up with the refrigerator?' He was like 'Oh yeah!' What kinda shit is that?”

Ad-Rock probably should have got a professional to ‘Ch-Check It Out’, while Murphy should really ‘Get It Together’ and stump up the repair money. Or who knows, maybe it was ‘Sabotage’? Ok, we’ll stop now.
