One Direction 2014 Stadium Tour Announcement Clocks Up 1,000,000 Tweets In Just 80 Minutes

World-beating boyband One Direction are known to have some of the most passionate and downright crazy fans in the world, and one place they all like to hang out is Twitter.
So, you can imagine when the boys revealed last week that they’d be unveiling ‘the most exciting 1D news ever’ - complete with hashtag #OneBigAnnouncement - that Twitter went absolutely wild with fans, who were either guessing what was in store, or simply having uncontrollable 140-character seizures.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter went even wilder when the announcement of a brand new UK stadium tour for 2014 (find out more about that, including dates, here!) - but the magnitude of it may still manage to shock you!
According to stats, the One Direction announcement clocked up a mammoth one million mentions (that’s 1,000,000!!) in just 80 minutes. To put it into perspective, Thatcher’s death took four hours to reach the same number - Twitter’s got it’s priorities set straight.
