Emeli Sande Picks Up Two Gongs At 58th Ivor Novello Awards - Winner’s List Inside

Thursday, 16 May 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

The 58th annual Ivor Novello Awards took place in London this afternoon, and once again Emeli Sande left with multiple awards!

The Ivors, sponsored by PRS, takes place every year, and recognises the best in songwriting and composing that the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors - or BASCA - has witnessed.

This year's winners included Mancunian rocker Noel Gallagher, indie outfit Alt-J, and, of course, Scottish singing sensation Emeli Sande. Sande picked up two gongs for her track ‘Next to Me’ - the ‘PRS for Music Most Performed Work’ award, and the prestigious ‘Best Song Musically and Lyrically’ award.

Picking up some of the most sought-after accolades was Noel Gallagher, who was recognised for his ‘Outstanding Song Collection’, and Calvin Harris, who was named ‘Songwriter of the Year’. The ‘Album Award’ went to Alt-J for their record ‘An Awesome Wave’ - which has already picked up the Mercury Prize last year.

The Maccabees’ ‘Pelican’ was chosen as the ‘Best Contemporary Song’, while The Moody Blues’ Justin Hayward was given the ‘PRS for Music Award for Outstanding Achievement’ - you can check out a full list of winners below.
