Queens Of The Stone Age Frontman Josh Homme Claims He Took 'Huge Risks' With New Album

Monday, 03 June 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has claimed he took a ‘huge risk’ with the band’s new album ‘...Like Clockwork’, in order to ensure he made ‘something real’.

Speaking to The Guardian, Homme opened up about the new record and the way he and the band went about making it - and he’s stated that to make ‘real music’, you have to take a lot of big risks, adding that he wants to be ‘fully exposed’. He told the paper:

“I wanna be fully exposed. I paid for this myself. I took the risk myself. Risk nothing, get nothing. If you wanna be famous, then it's OK if the music is fake, because fame isn't real. If you just wanna take the shortest distance to Kim Kardashian's underwear drawer, then that's fine, too. I'm not even against it. But if you wanna make something real, and you want it to be honest, then you don't have any choice but to take a huge risk.”

The band’s new record hit shelves today, and you can catch them performing their new material at an intimate in-store show in London’s Rough Trade East a week tomorrow (June 11th). They’ll also be playing at Download Festival and iTunes Festival - keep your eyes peeled on Stereoboard to see if they announce a headline UK tour, too.
